Exhibitor statements Schweisstec and Blechexpo 2011

Exhibitor Statements, SCHWEISStec 2011

Michael Schmidt, marketing and sales manager, Carl Cloos SCHWEISSTECHNIK GMBH, Haiger, Germany

SCHWEISStec fully lives up to its reputation as an industry meeting place for welding technology in south western Germany. The DVS (German Association for Welding and Related Processes) supports the trade fair with a solid supplementary programme so that together, the trade fair and the accompanying event present well-rounded information offerings which are rich in content. The fact that SCHWEISStec is so well received by the manufacturers is especially pleasing for me. On the exhibitor side, it’s evolved to include everything from dealers to manufacturers. The quality of the expert visitors is very good too.

Lorch Schweißtechnik GmbH, Auenwald, Germany, Michael Kosziollek, project manager – marketing

BLECHexpo/SCHWEISStec is a home game for our company. We measure ourselves against the expectations of the visitors. Prior to the event we drew attention to our trade fair presentation in numerous media, and we come to the following conclusion: BLECHexpo/SCHWEISStec 2011 was attended by a broad spectrum of expert visitors – all of our product ranges were in demand: from the workshop and assembly ranges right on up to automation with robots.

We noticed a clear-cut increase in the number of visitors at our booth as compared with the 2009 event, and were able to welcome important existing customers and potential new customers as well. We’re confident that the positive visitor trend will continue in the future thanks to fixed scheduling of the trade fair at the beginning of November.

Most of the visitors came from the German speaking countries. Bur international guests were on hand as well.

Thanks to the outstanding infrastructure and direct access from the Stuttgart Exhibition Centre to the airport, Blechexpo/Schweisstec has lots to offer for future development in this area as well.

Fronius Deutschland GmbH, welding technology division, Neuhof-Dorfborn, Germany, Thomas Braune, business customer consultant and authorised dealer

SCHWEISStec has become well established within the market. For us it’s one of Germany’s top three trade fairs. It’s one of the most important trade fairs for welding with an emphasis on central and southern Germany. The atmosphere was very positive at our booth. we had lots of expert visitors who live up to our quality expectations. Technicians come to the trade fair, as well as managing directors and decision makers. In addition to general information gathering, there were concrete RFQs as well. Our innovative booth concept proved its worth at this year’s trade fair presentation in partnership with our exclusive area representatives from Wirth Schweißtechnik in Reutlingen. We exhibit pure technology at the Fronius booth with live welding demonstrations, while our sales partners next door operate a both with event character. These two aspects appeal to customers in different ways, so that we always have lots of visitors.

EWM HIGHTECH WELDING GmbH, Mündersbach, Germany, Dipl.-Ing. Jürgen Günster, sales manager Germany

We hold the trade fair platform here in southern German in high esteem, which is offered to us by SCHWEISStec as a possible counterpart to Euroblech. The quality of the visitors if first rate. A large percentage of the visitors who came to our booth had concrete tasks, which will certainly have the potential to turn into real projects after the trade fair. We also established a large number of new contacts, from which potential projects could materialise. Where visitor numbers and internationalism are concerned, SCHWEISStec is far from meeting our expectations, especially in comparison with other German trade fairs for this industry sector. The highlight at our booth was a trade fair premiere, namely the Pipe Truck, an orbital pipe welding machine with the highly dynamic EWM multi-process inverter power supply “alpha Q” for automating orbital MAG welding in the field of hydraulic engineering and for buried pipelines.

TOX PRESSOTECHNIK, Weingarten, Germany, Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Peter Wilhelm, technical consultant, area sales manager, Cologne

SCHWEISStec is one of our two most important trade fairs, and BLECHexpo is one of the three most important. The combination of sheet metal processing and welding is ideal for our products. The results have been positive for us at this year’s instalment of the trade fair duo. We’re satisfied with the way the event is organised, as well as with the quality of the expert visitors. Roughly one third of our visitors approached us with concrete tasks, and the rest involved either informative discussions of all sorts or existing customers who wanted to be brought up to date. Most of the visitors were actual users, but there were lots of decision makers at the event as well. We offer a modern alternative to spot welding: Clinching is attracting more and more attention, especially now that hybrid materials are being processed to an ever greater extent. Here at the trade fair you definitely get the feeling that things are looking up again for the industry sector.

YASKAWA Europe GmbH, Eschborn, Germany, Dietmar W. Guttroff, key account manager automotive, robotics division

Our company has been participating at SCHWEISStec right from the very beginning, and will continue to do so in the future. The trade fair is an important industry platform and should be further developed, because here in southern Germany it certainly has its legitimacy, and it has a future as well. We were contacted this year by numerous companies who want to develop business partnerships. However, in our opinion more development needs to take place at the visitor level – otherwise we’re always very satisfied with trade fair organisation. Our highlight this year involved seven robots connected to a single controller – entirely unique throughout the world.

Exhibitor statements Blechepo 2011

TRUMPF GmbH + Co. KG, Ditzingen, Germany, Dr. Mathias Kammüller, managing shareholder and director of the machine tool / electrical tools division

The 10th BLECHexpo was very successful for TRUMPF – on the one hand due to sales figures for all machine types, above all 2D laser machines, and on the other hand because nearly all of our customers reported good to very good business situations, regardless of which country they came from. Our guests came from all over the world, thus confirming that BLECHexpo is becoming more and more international.

We allocated lots of space at this year’s booth to our production control software, because at the moment a lot of sheet metal operations need to reduce processing time. It became clearly apparent to our visitors that networked production offers significant potential in this area – and often considerably more than a single, faster machine. With its focus on the overall process sequence, BLECHexpo was exactly the right forum for spreading this message.

AMADA GmbH, Haan
, Christof Behrendt, sales director

We look back on the recent trade fair days in a positive light. Once again this year, BLECHexpo has proven itself a solid trade fair platform for sheet metal processing. After moving into our new AMADA Solution Center two years ago and not being able to participate at the trade fair due to customer events at our new location, coming back to BLECHexpo this year was certainly the right decision.

Despite a rather quiet Monday, we were able to welcome many visitors to our booth and provide them with consultation services. We had good, concrete discussions which, in the end, have led to positive trade fair results.

During our upcoming AMADA Solution event in Haan from the 5th through the 7th of July, 2011, we’ll take advantage of the opportunity of coming back to discussions which took place at BLECHexpo, and of presenting all of the trade fair highlights once again in a relaxed atmosphere.

Our new presentations unveiled at BLECHexpo and other exhibits from AMADA’s current machinery and automation portfolio represent the entire world of sheet metal processing in our showroom.

ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe AG, Duisburg, Germany, Achim Stolle MBA, strategic marketing

BLECHexpo is one of our top trade fairs. Our competitors and our customers are all in attendance. Focal points at BLECHexpo include contact with our customers from the steel processing industry sector. We meet up with a good mix of potential new customers and contact persons from our existing customer base.

We’re very satisfied with the way things went at the trade fair, as well as with visitor feedback received at BLECHexpo 2011. For example, on the second day of the event we were able to greet more than 400 customers at Meilenwerk Stuttgart after the get-together at our booth. Feedback from our customers and visitors regarding our trade fair presentation was entirely positive. Our trade fair motto, “Industrial Diversity – Expertise from a Single Source”, was supported by various exhibits, steel applications and messages. The economic atmosphere is characterised by a feeling of satisfaction in the steel and steel processing industry, because the sector has a positive, mid-term economic outlook.

Schuler Pressen GmbH, Göppingen, Germany, Martina Rothenberger, senior marketing manager

BLECHexpo is one of the most important leading trade fairs for the Schuler group in Europe and is a permanent part of our marketing mix. Schuler presented current highlights in the field of sheet metal forming at BLECHexpo 2011 for its diverse international target markets. Quantitatively, it would have been nice to have more visitors – the trade fair dates between the holidays were certainly not ideal in this respect – but the quality of our meetings was very good and allows us to look to the future optimistically. We were able to write a number of orders during the course of the trade fair. There were concrete RFQs which will be dealt with in more detail with the customers during the trade fair follow-up phase. We’ll find out just how successful the trade fair has actually been during the next several months – but the trend is positive at any rate.

Metabowerke GmbH, Nürtingen, Germany, Peter Hartung, director of corporate marketing

We at Metabo were generally quite satisfied with the trade fair, even though visitor numbers were distinctly below our expectations, especially on the first day of the event. Bur visitor quality was very good, and lots of follow-up appointments have been scheduled. Above all we see the more than 60 post-event visits arranged for by our sales consultants as a clear-cut trade fair success. Amongst our new products, above all battery powered tools for sheet metal processing were the highlights at our booth, for example the world’s first battery powered magnetic core drilling machine and the most comprehensive range of battery powered devices for stainless steel sheet metal processing. And our new angle grinders met with great interest as well. We believe that visitor numbers will increase again significantly as of 2013 when the trade fair is scheduled more favourably. A week situated between two holidays proved itself less than ideal this year.

Andritz Kaiser GmbH, Bretten-Gölshausen, Germany, Wolfgang Wiedenmann, sales and marketing

All in all we’re very satisfied with BLECHexpo 2011. Ever since BLECHexpo moved to Stuttgart, it’s evolved into the second leading trade fair and has become considerably more international. The highlight at our booth consisted of a new concept for intelligent control of servo-presses which we presented to the public for the first time here at BLECHexpo. The visitor profile was just right for us. We were able to establish numerous, interesting new contacts and field concrete RFQs. You really get the feeling that the upswing is still on the rise. Potential and existing customers, under pressure to meet deadlines, bring their projects to us, which have to be implemented without delay. We’re expecting good post-event business for this reason.

LEICHT STANZAUTOMATION GMBH, Bretten, Germany, Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Ekkehard Hüne, technical consultant

There could be no better way to celebrate the 10th anniversary trade fair than with a perfect Blechexpo 2011. When all of the booth personnel are in continuous meetings with customers from Monday through Thursday, and when it becomes apparent that the quality of the meetings is very good and that a large percentage of the customers are new, the exhibitor is entirely satisfied. Our assessment of the situation has been confirmed.

Blechexpo is our most important marketplace for presenting our products.

Salvagnini Italia s.p.a., Sarego (Vicenza), Italy, Andrè Huber, area manager

Our company is satisfied with the way things went at BLECHexpo 2011. We were surprised by the quantity and the quality of the visitors at this year’s trader fair in light of the holidays which preceded and followed the event. We also noticed increased internationalism amongst the visitors, which pleased us very much. The trade fair’s direct proximity to Stuttgart International Airport provides BLECHexpo with a tremendous advantage in this respect – a fact which foreign exhibitors should be more aware of. For us, BLECHexpo continues to be one of the most important trade fairs in Europe for the industry sector.
